The Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University was established 37 years ago. The Faculty places great emphasis on integrative research, taking a multidisciplinary approach to assessing the environment and natural resources. This technique of research is now well recognized as one of the best approaches to formulate problem-solving strategies and in devising optimal management plans.

The Faculty is well placed to be able to make such an approach a reality since it has a wide human resource base with social and natural scientists who are noted experts in their fields with many years of experience. The Faculty has undertaken many research projects in various fields and has been licensed to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) since 1985. The Faculty is also a member of the Thai Consultant Database Center, Public Debt Management Office, Ministry of Finance; thereby, the Faculty can conduct academic service projects to serve the strategies of government and private sector projects, particularly on environmental issues.
