ENVI Mahidol Discusses Collaboration with Denso Group to Advance CWIE and Academic Partnerships for Workforce Development and Industrial Sustainability

On 26 January 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon, Associate Dean for Education and International Relations, and faculty staff, held a meeting with representatives from Denso Group companies, including Siam Denso Manufacturing and Siam Kyosan Denso.

The discussion focused on potential collaboration in Cooperative and Work Integrated Education (CWIE), as well as joint research and development in environmental and sustainability fields.

The meeting emphasized the development of cooperative education and internship programs. The company proposed a cooperative education model allowing students to work in real industrial settings for a period of 8 months to 1 year, functioning as full-time employees and undertaking real-world projects in place of traditional senior projects. This approach aims to better prepare students for industrial careers and provide opportunities for high-performing students to be recruited by the company upon graduation.

In addition, both parties exchanged views on Denso Group’s environmental and sustainability policies, particularly its Eco Vision and its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.

Regarding academic collaboration, Denso expressed strong interest in long-term joint research involving faculty members and students at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Research topics of interest include plastic recycling, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and innovative technologies for carbon reduction. Both parties agreed on the importance of establishing a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to ensure continuity and a clear framework for collaboration, with activities expected to commence as early as June, in alignment with the student internship period.
