20 July 2026, the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, held an online Letter of Intent (LOI) signing ceremony with Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Republic of the Philippines. The ceremony marked a shared commitment to fostering academic cooperation, research collaboration, and international networking, while further strengthening the longstanding friendship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of the Philippines.
On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, signed the Letter of Intent with Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr., President of Mariano Marcos State University. During the ceremony, both leaders delivered messages reaffirming their commitment to advancing future collaboration between the two institutions. Witnessing the signing on behalf of Mahidol University were Dr. Praewa Wongburi, Assistant Dean for Policy, Planning and International Relations; Assistant Professor Dr. Piangjai Peerakiatkhajohn, Assistant Dean for Administration; and Dr. Shreema Rana, Foreign Expert. Representing Mariano Marcos State University as witnesses were Dr. Arlene L. Gonzales, Director of Sustainability and Futures Thinking, and Professor Jeannet G. Dials, Director of External Linkages and Partnerships.
The Letter of Intent reflects the mutual interest of both institutions in exploring a broad range of collaborative activities, including the organization of international lectures, seminars, and academic programs; the development of certificate and degree programs; joint research projects; academic conferences, symposia, and workshops; the exchange of innovative teaching practices and curriculum development; faculty, researcher, staff, and student exchanges; collaborative research publications in reputable journals; as well as internship, on-the-job training, and community engagement initiatives.
This partnership represents an important milestone in expanding the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies' international academic network. It is expected to promote excellence in education, research, innovation, and sustainable development while creating valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange among faculty members, researchers, staff, and students. The Letter of Intent also lays the foundation for future formal agreements and the implementation of concrete collaborative projects between the two institutions.
