ENVI Mahidol Concludes International Carbon Neutrality Campus (CNC) Course 2026 with Student Presentations on Pathways to Carbon-Neutral Universities

25 June 2026 – The Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University successfully concluded the International Carbon Neutrality Campus (CNC) Course 2026 under the theme “Bridging Theory and Action for a Net-Zero Future.” Held online from 23–25 June 2026, the program brought together more than 50 undergraduate and graduate students from partner universities in Thailand and abroad, representing seven countries: China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, and Thailand.

Throughout the three-day course, participants engaged in learning and knowledge exchange on climate change, climate action initiatives, carbon footprint assessment, life cycle perspectives, and strategies for advancing universities toward carbon neutrality. The program featured lectures, academic discussions, and hands-on workshops led by experts from leading international institutions.
As a highlight of the closing session, students collaborated in teams to develop and present project proposals demonstrating practical approaches to achieving carbon neutrality on university campuses. Drawing upon the knowledge and experience gained during the course, participants showcased innovative solutions that could be applied within higher education institutions and received valuable feedback from a panel of experts representing international partner institutions.

The International Carbon Neutrality Campus (CNC) Course 2026 served as an important platform for building networks among international students and emerging environmental leaders. The program provided opportunities for participants to exchange perspectives and cross-cultural experiences while strengthening the knowledge and skills necessary to advance sustainable development and achieve carbon neutrality goals in the future.


ENVI Mahidol Collaborates with Department of Health and WHO to Advance Amalgam Separator Implementation in Thailand

25 June 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, presented the findings of a cost-effectiveness and feasibility study on the implementation of amalgam separators in dental clinics across Thailand. The study was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, and the World Health Organization (WHO) to support effective mercury management in the public health sector in accordance with the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

The study highlights the current situation, key challenges, and critical factors influencing the implementation of amalgam waste management measures in Thailand, including policy frameworks, budget allocation, and the readiness of healthcare facilities. The research team also proposed an integrated implementation framework encompassing policy, academic, and operational dimensions to promote the practical adoption of amalgam separators within the national dental service system.

The study received academic support and recommendations from experts both in Thailand and internationally. Its ultimate objective is to enhance mercury management in the public health sector, strengthen environmental protection efforts, and contribute to the sustainable development of Thailand’s healthcare system.


ENVI Mahidol Hosts International Carbon Neutrality Campus (CNC) Course 2026, Uniting Global Student Networks and Climate Experts

23 June 2026: The Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, officially launched the International Carbon Neutrality Campus (CNC) Course 2026 under the theme “Bridging Theory and Action for a Net-Zero Future.” Held online from 23–25 June 2026, the program brought together undergraduate and graduate students from partner universities in Thailand and abroad. More than 50 selected participants from China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, and Thailand joined the course to exchange knowledge, strengthen international networks, and develop their capacity to drive low-carbon societies at both local and global levels.

The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University, who delivered the opening remarks and welcomed participants from across the region. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, provided an overview of the program and its objectives. In addition, Mr. Lorenzo Santucci, Chief of the Environment and Development Policy Section, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), delivered welcome remarks and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in advancing carbon neutrality goals.

The CNC Course 2026 brought together leading experts in climate change, environmental policy, and carbon management from renowned international institutions, including Dr. Xu Tian from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China; Dr. Banashri Sinha, Climate Action Strategy Consultant from the Environment and Development Policy Division, UNESCAP; Dr. Anish Ghimire from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand; Ayu Fitriatul Ulya, ST., M.Sc. from the University of Merdeka Malang, Indonesia; Dr. Arlene L. Gonzales from Mariano Marcos State University, Philippines; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon from the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University. In addition, Dr. Jakkapon Phanthuwongpakdee of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, together with Dr. Shreema Rana, served as moderators for the expert panel discussions and interactive learning sessions throughout the program.

The course covered a wide range of topics, including global climate policy, organizational climate action strategies, carbon footprint assessment, and life cycle perspectives. Participants from seven countries engaged in hands-on workshops, collaborative group activities, and practical exercises designed to develop campus-based carbon neutrality action plans. The program concluded with group presentations and expert feedback from representatives of international partner institutions.

The program reflects the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University’s commitment to serving as a regional hub for international environmental collaboration. By fostering global partnerships and empowering the next generation of sustainability leaders, the Faculty continues to contribute to sustainable development and the achievement of carbon neutrality goals for a more resilient future.


ENVI Mahidol Hosts "ENVI Symposium 2026," Uniting Academic Networks to Drive Environmental Sustainability

On May 18, 2026, the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies at Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Environmental Education Executives Network, hosted the "ENVI Symposium 2026." Held in a hybrid format, the symposium served as a dynamic platform for undergraduate and graduate students to present their environmental research projects. The event successfully fostered knowledge exchange and strengthened academic collaboration among various educational institutions. The opening ceremony was led by Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty, with Assistant Professor Dr. Arant Sriatana Tabucanon, Deputy Dean for Education and International Relations, delivering the welcome and objectives report to an audience of executives, faculty members, researchers, and students.

The symposium marked a milestone as the inaugural event for the network, bringing together participants from five faculties across four leading institutions. These included Mahidol University's Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Srinakharinwirot University's Faculty of Environmental Culture and Ecotourism, Mahasarakham University's Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, and Prince of Songkla University’s Faculty of Environmental Management and Faculty of Technology and Environment (Phuket Campus). A total of 45 research projects were presented both onsite and online, showcasing diverse academic insights from the next generation of environmental scientists.

The presentations covered critical areas of environmental science and sustainable development, such as greenhouse gas and carbon footprint management, natural resources and ecology, environmental technology, biomaterials and waste management, and environmental assessment and communication. This symposium not only enhanced the students' research capabilities and enabled them to share knowledge with the public, but it also played a vital role in driving future environmental solutions and academic excellence for long-term sustainability.


ENVI Mahidol Discusses Collaboration with UNFCCC RCC Bangkok and IGES to Drive Regional Climate Action Education

26 May 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, along with Lecturer Dr. Praewa Wongburi, Assistant Dean for Policy, Planning, and International Relations, Assistant Professor Dr. Wichaya Rongsayamanont, and Dr. Shreema Rana, International Expert, held a discussion with representatives from the UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre (RCC) Bangkok and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). The delegation was led by Ms. Juhi Bansal, Regional Expert for NDCs and LT-LEDS at the UNFCCC-IGES Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia and the Pacific, accompanied by Ms. Jean Paula Bermudez Regulano, Climate Action and Adaptation Specialist, and Ms. Jessica Merailo, Youth Engagement Coordinator.

The meeting aimed to exchange ideas on youth capacity building, education, and climate action initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.
During the meeting, the representatives from RCC Bangkok under the UNFCCC presented the center's role in supporting developing countries in Asia and the Pacific regarding Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), climate adaptation, data transparency, youth engagement, and climate action collaboration across various sectors. They also introduced a 5-module youth climate action capacity-building curriculum covering climate science, participation in national climate action plans and commitments under the Paris Agreement (NDCs) and the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and international negotiation processes. This curriculum focuses on participatory and practical learning through workshops to promote meaningful youth engagement in climate science.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn shared his experience in developing sustainable organizations at the university level. He highlighted the integration of sustainability into university policies and teaching across all fields, not limited to environmental studies. He also presented approaches to expand sustainability efforts from universities to schools by developing living lab schools, creating teaching manuals for Thai teachers on sustainability, carbon footprint, life cycle assessment, and CCUS, and studying Thai curricula to push for policy changes with the Ministry of Education in the future. Examples of joint projects with the public and private sectors to promote eco-friendly behaviors, such as reducing plastic bag use in schools, were also shared.

Both parties further discussed future collaboration opportunities. These include developing online training for students in the faculty's Carbon Neutrality Campus (CNC) network in the ASEAN region, organizing youth climate camps with the private sector, and inviting UNFCCC experts as speakers and panelists for CNC activities scheduled for June 23–25, 2026. They also explored connecting Mahidol University to the UNFCCC academic network to build a shared regional learning center and platform for climate change in ASEAN.


ENVI Mahidol Brings Together CNC Partners for Expert Coordination Meeting Ahead of International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2026

On 25 May 2026, the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University under the Carbon Neutrality Campus (CNC) initiative convened the “CNC Expert Coordination Meeting 2026” with members of its growing international partner network, including representatives from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Merdeka University Malang, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Universiti Teknologi Brunei, as well as the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), to discuss the organization and expert coordination for the upcoming International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2026.

The meeting focused on availability mapping and the alignment of international experts with the 3-day technical program schedule, while also strengthening regional academic collaboration toward advancing carbon neutrality and sustainable campus development across Asia.

The International Carbon Neutrality Campus (CNC) Course 2026, themed “Bridging Theory and Action for a Net-Zero Future,” will be held online via Zoom from 23–25 June 2026, from 13:00–17:00 (GMT+7). The intensive 3-day program is designed to empower undergraduate student leaders with practical knowledge and hands-on skills in climate policy, carbon calculations, and campus sustainability action planning. Through expert-led policy discussions and interactive technical workshops, participants will gain real-world experience in transforming carbon neutrality concepts into actionable strategies for sustainable campuses and communities.

The course serves as an international learning platform that connects students, academics, and sustainability experts across the region to collaboratively drive innovative solutions for a net-zero future.
